You only have 15 minutes to set the *tone* for your day. What are your morning non-negotiables when you’re running low on time?
Bryony Deery: If I am low on time, I will prioritize 15 minutes of movement. I have a 15-minute class for pure core using the ball that I am loving at the moment. Pilates gets me out of my head and into my body—it’s the most efficient way for me to ‘kill two birds with one stone’ and combine movement with meditation. I am always amazed at how in just 15 minutes I can completely shift the energy of my day!
What’s your current favorite Arrae product and why?
Bryony Deery: I am LOVING Tone. I am such a big fan of creatine, and this has made it so easy to fit into my day. Tone’s also so reminiscent for me as they remind me of a childhood sweet I used to love called strawberry laces! Creatine is such a great product that everyone can benefit from. I have noticed a huge difference in my muscle tone, mental sharpness, and better workout recovery.
What’s your take on discipline? How do you walk yourself through challenging moments, both on and off the mat?
Bryony Deery: I think discipline is something we can all train ourselves on and almost hack into our lifestyles. For me, a big discipline life hack is having accountability partners. Working out with a friend or creating your own mini challenge together is such a great way to hold each other accountable. You also get to support and inspire each other while making exercise more enjoyable!
Setting myself up for success begins with making it as easy as possible to do the things I might resist if there are too many barriers to entry. For example, if I am trying to improve my step count, I will take meetings I can do on a walk outside or arrange to meet a friend for a walk. I also like to pre-download a podcast that I am only allowed to listen to on a walk. Discipline comes easier once you have created a lifestyle that feels enjoyable and easier to stick to.
A hot take on the wellness industry or current fitness trends:
Bryony Deery: I try not to follow the trends and always like to do my own thing as much as possible. I really believe in the results of my method of classical and contemporary mixed Pilates with the addition of weights over reformer. I really feel this will take over the Pilates world as a trend in terms of the results it gives you. I also think solo travel will be big in wellness this year. I'm definitely going to do more of that myself!
If you had to pinpoint one “secret ingredient” for achieving mind-body-spirit alignment, what would it be? How does it fuel lasting success?
Bryony Deery: The secret sauce in terms of movement is combining classical/contemporary mat pilates with weights and walking. In terms of nutrition, I think it’s about fueling and supporting your body’s needs and not restricting. You have to put petrol in the car to make it run! For the mind, it’s all about creating a routine that fits into a lifestyle that feels good to you. That could mean a breathwork class before the kids wake up, a walking meditation, or simply some deep belly breathing on your commute. We often overcomplicate and sometimes simplifying is the best thing we can do.
One undervalued quality you wish more people would embody:
Bryony Deery: Kindness. To others, but also to ourselves. I think we can be so hard on ourselves and that in itself creates such a knock on effect to our wellbeing. So let's all be kinder and spread the love!
