You only have 15 minutes to set the *tone* for your day. What are your morning non-negotiables when you’re running low on time?
Chloë Crampton: I have been relishing in slow mornings lately and prioritizing ME time to fit in things that set my day and my body up for success. However, if I am in a rush to get over to a nutrition coaching or private cheffing client, these are a few things I can’t go without:
1. My daily green juice. Since my cancer diagnosis, I always make this a priority and often prepare it the night before if I know I’m going to have less time in the morning. It’s a great way to wake up my body and fill it with all the vitamins and nutrients I need right away.
2. I recently made the switch from a morning coffee to a morning matcha, and my body is already feeling so much better from that. The powerful antioxidant hit in the morning really helps give me a boost, not only from the caffeine but also from the nutrients. I will often get a mid morning coffee after I’ve eaten if I need extra energy that day.
3. I’ll grab a protein ball or bar I meal-prepped for the week as I don’t love any of the pre-made protein bars on the market. Mine are packed with nutrients and a clean protein powder and keep me full as I run out the door so I have something in my stomach and can take my daily vitamins.
Walk us through your weekly workout schedule. What forms of movement are you loving? What about go-to rituals or supplements before/after you hit the gym?
Chloë Crampton: I always make sure to get in at least 10,000 steps a day and love to go on daily long walks or hikes with my dog, Paddington. I often wake up my body with some morning yoga to get moving, even if it’s only 20 minutes. It has really helped me rebuild my body as I have lingering side effects from my cancer treatment. I’ve really been loving Pvolve lately and have been building my upper body strength back by doing private reformer pilates sessions once a week. And at least twice a week I will hop on my Peloton for a ride at home to get in some cardio.
I used to do fasted cardio but now I make sure to fuel my body with enough protein and fiber to give me more energy for my workouts, being careful not to spike my cortisol levels. So I’ll have a protein packed smoothie, an egg scramble with avocado before or chia pudding with berries.
I have been taking Arrae Tone before my workouts to boost my exercise performance and counteract muscle and bone loss now that I’m in perimenopause.
What’s your current favorite Arrae product and why?
Chloë Crampton: I’m really loving Tribiotic, as other probiotics are too harsh on my stomach and this one gives me a little of everything I need for a balanced gut. I’m also a Bloat girlie through and through! I take them before meals that I know might be harder on my digestion, or at *that* time of the month.
Additionally, I take Magnesium before bed daily and it helps me sleep like a baby and unwind. I recently started taking MB-1 and I’m looking forward to seeing those results; my metabolism has naturally started to slow down now I’m navigating perimenopause in my life post cancer treatment.
What’s your take on discipline? How do you walk yourself through challenging moments, both on and off the mat?
Chloë Crampton: You never know how strong you can be until strength is your only option. I think now I’ve undergone the worst thing that could have happened, anything else feels manageable. Discipline in my anti-inflammatory diet is also easy to stick to during my life in remission because I have witnessed what it’s like to lose your health, and now I live with the anxiety of it returning, I feel driven and dedicated to what I can control, which is diet and exercise, and all the things that are helping myself heal.
A hot take on the wellness industry or current fitness trends:
Chloë Crampton: People are always talking about your protein intake, but we always have to be aware of getting enough fiber in our day, too. I believe in a balanced diet and making sure to get carbs, healthy fats and natural sugar for balanced blood sugar and sustained energy. It’s important to feed our bodies a little of everything it needs to function at optimal health.
If you had to pinpoint one “secret ingredient” for achieving mind-body-spirit alignment, what would it be? How does it fuel lasting success?
Chloë Crampton: Self care has become so important to me. I never took time to prioritize myself until it was almost too late and I went through a life changing illness. But now, I see the importance of protecting your energy, listening to your intuition and carving time out for yourself. So now I take one day a week to go get acupuncture, go to an infrared sauna, move my body with a workout class, meet a girlfriend for a nourishing lunch, get a lymphatic massage or do reiki. Get a facial and make your doctor appointments. We need to be gentle on our bodies—we only get one of them.
So I would say, listening to your intuition and prioritizing yourself are things you should always do to fuel long lasting success in every area of our lives.
If you could sit down with your younger self and give one piece of advice that has been formative to who you are today, what would you share?
Chloë Crampton: Don’t be a people pleaser. Protect your energy and be aware of who you give it away to. Be selfish sometimes and tell people no when you are burnt out, stressed or worried. Cut people out of your life who drain your energy and aren’t a positive force. It’s hard to set boundaries for yourself but when you do, you will heal yourself from the inside out.
One undervalued quality you wish more people would embody:
Chloë Crampton: Patience. Healing our bodies takes time. It’s not a quick fix. But if you have patience along with consistency, it will pay off in the end. Respect yourself and know your worth too. Don’t let energy vampires drain you and take away from time where you should be working on yourself to grow and heal.
