GLOW
with @kerrydenevan
You only have 15 minutes to set the *tone* for your day. What are your morning non-negotiables when you’re running low on time?
Kerry Denevan: One of my morning non-negotiables is slowly waking up without immediately checking my phone. I need a minute to myself before the immediate cortisol spike my phone brings.
I’ll do a quick skincare routine which includes splashing my face with water, Vitamin C, gua sha or ice rolling — I love The Skinny Confidential ice roller, tongue scraping, and a good moisturizer!
I have to rehydrate before my coffee so I’ll either have warm lemon water with Celtic sea salt or bone broth. Then I’ll have a quick bite before I make my coffee with coconut creamer, honey, and cinnamon!
Lastly, if I have time, I’ll use my red light face mask and journal.
The best part of my morning routine is so many of these things can be stacked together and done within 15 minutes! For example: I’ll wear my red light mask while making my morning coffee and then sip my coffee while journaling.
Walk us through your weekly workout schedule. What forms of movement are you loving? What about go-to rituals or supplements before/after you hit the gym?
Kerry Denevan: I typically work out 5 to 6 times a week! I’ll admit I used to work out because I wanted to physically look my best, but now working out is all about mentally feeling my best. It truly is an escape for me and I feel so much better after a workout! You can’t beat the endorphins.
My typical workout split is 3 pilates classes, 2-3 weight lifting sessions, and walking 10k steps a day.
I love to take electrolytes during my workout for hydration, and of course love my Tone creatine gummies by Arrae either pre or post workout!
If you could sit down with your younger self and give one piece of advice that has been formative to who you are today, what would you share?
Kerry Denevan: Be your authentic self—no one else is you and that’s your greatest power. Stop wasting energy worrying about what others think because most of the time, they’re too busy focusing on their own lives. Own who you are, trust your path, and watch everything fall into place!
A hot take on the wellness industry or current fitness trends:
Kerry Denevan: It took me YEARS to understand this, but the power of walking is incredible. I always thought I had to run half marathons or sprint on the treadmill to get in shape, when in reality walking was the absolute best thing for my body. It’s so underrated- and it’s free! The easiest way for me to hit 10k steps a day is getting outside in the fresh air and putting on a podcast!
