About Arrae

Arrae is a fast-growing wellness brand specializing in 100% natural supplements designed to help with everyday health concerns.

About The Role

Arrae is hiring a hands-on Controller to own our books, our cash, and our controls — from the individual transaction up to the audited financial statements.

Arrae is a fast-growing wellness and supplements brand sold across DTC, Amazon, TikTok Shop, and national retail (Target, Walmart, Ulta, Sprouts). We move a lot of transactions across a lot of channels, and we need a Controller who can make every one of them clean, accurate, and audit-ready.

This is not a review-from-a-distance role. You will lead the accounting function, forecast our cash weekly, run our audit end to end, scrutinize real spend line by line, manage our outsourced AR/AP partner at the transaction level, and build the systems and control environment of a company preparing for its next stage. You will work directly with the CEO and leadership team, and your work will be seen by our board.

What You'll Own

1. Accounting operations, monthly close and reporting

  • Lead the accounting function across AR, AP, general ledger, cash, inventory, fixed assets, payroll, intercompany, audit, and tax.
  • Own a timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close under US GAAP — business day 10 at first, driving toward 5.
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, inventory and COGS accounting, and revenue recognition across channels.
  • Produce the monthly financial package for leadership and the board.
  • Support tax filings with outside advisors, including multi-entity, intercompany, and sales tax compliance.

2. Cash flow forecasting and working capital

  • Build and own a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast, updated weekly and reconciled to actuals.
  • Forecast inflows by channel (DTC, subscriptions, Amazon, TikTok, retail receivables) and outflows (inventory POs, co-man deposits, marketing, payroll, debt service).
  • Flag cash pinch points weeks ahead and recommend actions: payment timing, vendor terms, inventory buys, credit line draws.
  • Own the bank, card, and payment-processor relationships day to day; reconcile cash daily.
  • Manage working capital: DSO and collections on retail accounts, DPO and terms with suppliers, deductions and chargebacks.

3. Audit and compliance

  • Run the annual financial statement audit end to end as the auditors' primary contact: planning, PBC lists, schedules, requests, and adjustments.
  • Deliver clean, tied-out support so the audit finishes on time with a clean opinion and no surprises.
  • Close out audit findings and management letter points with real fixes, not workarounds.
  • Keep the company audit-ready every month and compliant with regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements.

4. Internal controls and policy

  • Design and implement a control framework fit for a company scaling toward a larger outcome: segregation of duties, approval matrices, a budget control matrix, and documented review.
  • Write and enforce policies for expenses, corporate cards, purchasing, vendor onboarding, and revenue recognition.
  • Prepare clear support for any item that needs leadership or board approval.

5. Systems, ERP and automation

  • Lead the NetSuite ERP implementation.
  • Build controls into our systems (Ramp, ERP, payment approvals) so the right thing is the default.
  • Document reporting needs, automate manual processes, and give practical guidance where systems aren't perfect yet.

6. Spend review and budget vs. actual

  • Review actual expenses line by line, every month: corporate cards, reimbursements, vendor bills, and marketing spend.
  • Make sure every charge is documented, coded correctly, and tied to a business purpose.
  • Review monthly actuals with department heads and the Director of Finance: accrue what's missing, explain what moved and why, and turn it into insight for decisions.

7. AR/AP agency oversight at the transaction level

  • Manage our outsourced AR/AP partner as if they were in-house: set SLAs, review their work, and own the result.
  • Approve payment runs and check vendor bills against POs and receipts.
  • Track retail receivables, deductions, and chargebacks to collection or recovery.
  • Assess when work should move in-house and help hire for it.

Your First 90 Days

  • Day 30: 13-week cash forecast live and reviewed weekly with the CEO. Full read of the close, the AR/AP partner's workflow, and open audit items.
  • Day 60: Audit plan and PBC schedule set with the auditors. Expense and card policy in place and enforced. Month-end close running on a written checklist.
  • Day 90: Control framework documented and live in our systems. AR/AP partner on clear SLAs. A clean monthly package going to leadership and the board.

Who you are

You have done this job before, at a company like ours, and you have the scars to prove it.

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including 3+ years as a Controller or Assistant Controller at a high-growth consumer products, CPG, DTC, or e-commerce company.

  • Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA required. Big 4 or national audit firm experience strongly preferred.

  • You have led a financial statement audit from the company side, start to finish, and delivered a clean opinion.

  • You have built and run a 13-week cash flow forecast and used it to make real decisions under pressure.

  • You have designed and implemented internal controls from scratch — not just documented ones that already existed.

  • Deep US GAAP knowledge, especially inventory and COGS, multi-channel revenue recognition, and retail trade deductions.

  • You have led an accounting team and managed outsourced accounting or AR/AP providers, holding both to a standard.

  • Hands-on with modern finance tools: NetSuite (implementation experience a plus) or QuickBooks, Ramp or similar spend platforms, Shopify, Amazon Seller Central settlements, and advanced Excel or Google Sheets.

  • Detail-obsessed and transaction-level comfortable. You open the invoice. You trace the charge.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity: you build the process where none exists yet, and work well across teams.

  • Direct and independent. You will tell the CEO when something isn't right, and then fix it.

Nice to have

  • Experience preparing a company for a sale, PE investment, or quality-of-earnings review.
  • Multi-entity and cross-border (US/Canada) accounting and consolidation.
  • Experience with retail accounts like Target, Walmart, and Ulta, including deduction recovery.
  • Inventory accounting with third-party manufacturers and 3PLs.

Details

  • Reports to: CFO
